This interesting pin is in the shape of a lyre (a precursor of the harp – Orpheus played the lyre). The coppery rose gold is engraved, with black enamel highlights, and dedicated to “GAO From G.V.” It measures 1-1/16” x 13/16” and weighs 3.6g, with the original old pin stem assembly. This lovely Art Nouveau lavaliere is unusual with its square lines at the top, making it both charmingly antique and very modern in appearance. It is made of 9 ct gold and is set with amethysts [the smaller stones] and a garnet/glass doublet. ] The pendant is 2" x 1", and is on a 16" 14 k gold chain [modern]. The pendant itself is circa 1900.

This detailed and beautiful festoon or garland necklace features a winged heart, which is symbolic of love and openness. The heart is enameled in green with orange highlights, and the heart and the wings are set with seed pearls. Above are curlicues of gold, and below is a (tested) diamond dropper. This brooch or pin is in the shape of a bow, made from blue and turquoise plique a jour (translucent) enamel with twisted wire work running through it. (The colors in the photographs may be deceptive, depending on your computer monitor). Coral has been used in jewelry for thousands of years. It has been called Sea Garden because of its resemblance to a plant. Coral is used as protection from negativity and evil, and to dispel feelings of inner weakness. This pin is 14k gold and holds a coral branch. It is Victorian in age and has maker's mark, BML. The pin is 2" X 1/2". Circa 1860.

This striking stick pin was made in the shape of an arrow head. It features a sparkly cognac-colored diamond of approximately 10 points (a tenth of a carat), but it looks bigger. Above and below the diamond are 2 lovely (cultured?) champagne-colored pearls. It weighs 2.3g and is of unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold, which has been hammered to enhance the “arrow head” look – a great reminder that the Arts and Crafts era overlapped the era of the Wild West! Amethyst? No. Glass. Gold? No. Gold fill. Do those facts mean this lavalier is any less lovely? No! This charming lavalier is both antique and eye-catching. The stone is amethyst-colored glass and the metal is gold-fill. The lavalier is not marked, but the 20" gold-filled chain bears the maker's mark for Bates & Bacon. The lavalier is 1 1/8 X 3/4", not including the fresh-water pearl dropper. Circa 1900.

This interesting fob is the setting for a sterling coin. It is a Prussian 2 Mark coin. On one side is the face of Friedrich (presumably) and his wife, a Maltese cross, and the words “FRIEDRICH * I * 1701 * WILHELM * II * 1901”; on the other side is an eagle with a crown above, and “DEUTSCHES REICH 1901 ZWEI MARK”. This pretty lady stick pin is most likely brass with a gold wash, which is worn. Her hair ends in a row of sparkly stones; I’m not sure what they are, but quite likely they are marcasites (one glued in crookedly). Head and stones measure 5/8” x 3/8”, total length is 2-9/16”. Circa 1920s.

This beautiful old miniature depicts a lovely lady, hand painted, in an asymmetrical frame set with seed pearls. This fabulous bracelet by Schaverien & Eastmead of Birmingham, England, is 7” long and 3/8” wide at the widest points. Each panel features enamel shading from dark green to pale green to magenta and back again. In between each panel is a round blister pearl. Each connecting link has a hard-to-read mark, probably a lion, also the marks for Birmingham, 1909, and “S&E”. The clasp has a safety chain. This little wooden box is a fantasy delight to hold your most often worn rings and other jewels. It has a leather-look surface embossed with a gryffon rampant on top. The edges and all sides are ornately patterned. It as a lock, but the key has disappeared into the mists of time. There are some minor scuffs on surface. The box is 4¼” x 3½” x 2¼” in size. The age unknown, best guess is midcentury.
